Why is it that Glen Beck is dressed like a Nazi on the cover of his new book? Is it because down deep in his heart (if he has one) and in his pea-sized brain, he truly is a Nazi wanting to control those with whom he finds a problem or takes issue with? His daily cry baby rants are so sophomoric. They insult the intelligence of the people of this great country. Just where did he attend school? Was it perhaps “Romper Room”?And what’s up with the Copenhagen “snuff” (as in snuffed out/eliminated) remark regarding Obama’s trip to that city to promote Chicago….which has lost it’s bid….and in who’s loss, Beck as well as his ilk are rejoicing heartedly. His use of the word “snuff” goes hand in hand with his declaration that “Obama hates white people” and that someone “needs to do something about him”. If ever I’ve heard of such a thought I’d have to label it treason!

As for Obama….how many important operatives of terror cells did our former chump-in-chief gw…..eliminate or imprison? I believe I’ve heard of many more important terrorists that have been removed from the playing field under Obama’s first 9 months in office then in all the years of the error of gw. And they haven’t been tortured either. How about the break up of the recent plots to terrorize our nation transit systems. Did gw ever accomplish breaking up a plot…not tainted by agents pumping up the facts….or bating the hook….like in Lackawanna, Buffalo, Liberty City….so few truly dangerous people were caught there I’d have to say.

So let me wrap up here since once again Beckie’s started to make my blood boil. Across their full spectrum, Conservatives need to step to the plate and speak out loadly too put a stop to the drive towards the right wing revolution beening espoused by those idiots at the Fake New Network (FNN/FOX). FNN and their Tea Bagging friends, along with their a–hole friend and drug fiend….Rash Limbaugh are hoping to create, a climate of hate and fear of government, and of course all those on the liberal side of the argument.

I pray Becks teary eyes will fade from my TV screen sooner not later, along with his junk news friends and all those pesky obstructionist Republicans. To loosely quote…….gw…..”Your either wit us or ur against us“…..thankfully we’ve retired that #43.

Now let’s retire the rest of the lunatic fringe. Send them back to their farms, and their hovels and of course those who are in need of care…..must go to ”our” rest homes and “our” death panels. WHOSE NEXT?

Now it’s an address by the president to our nations school rooms and students, that has the right wings “panties in a bunch”.
The right wing seems to have morphed into what can only be described as the the lunatic fringe!
And they’ve been amassing in numbers greater then I ever thought possible.

They are calling Obama’s school address as brain washing, mind control, socialist, Marxist propaganda!

Do we really have to go down that road again, to McCarthyism and his 1950′s witch hunt for pinko communists in our mitts? Why do we have to listen to those who have become so very paranoid!

I say it all stems from their very own ranting and raging and their very own “desire to deny the rights of others”….their freedom to speak. I won’t bother now to get into their questions of “who can marry who” or ”what teenagers are taught in the classroom”, in addition to banning some of the very textbooks and novels used to educate their students.

It sounds like they are the ones ready to call out the troops. I can almost hear their “goose stepping march”!

This is getting really, really crazy now!

These conservatives be they J.Q.Public or their elected officials, along with their (Fake News Network..FNN)….pundits who are so very bitter. They can’t bare the thought that they are no longer in charge, but more directly it’s that a person of color is their commander-in-chief.

They are ignorant people. They are very close minded. They are also the one’s who use the “issue of fear”, hoping to instill fear in the elderly.

Health reform has deteriorated into shouting at and insulting those people who want reform as well as their own elected representatives. The idea that government involvement in health care is somehow a push towards socialism, communism or fascism is just insane. Our government has been running the Medicare program for 4 decades….aren’t we therefore already a socialist country?

As a patriotic American, I am ashamed of and embarrassed at the behavior of, our middle aged and seniors citizens who make fools of themselves at want they call a grassroots movement of protest rally’s and even at official town hall meetings.

Finally who in their right mind could pronounce this 8 month old administration as a failure? What mess?
The vast majority of the deficit is the responsibility of the Bush administration. His wars and his failure to pay
for the Medicare Part D prescription plan are to blame. And it was Bush who approved of the initial bailout plans!

The so called mess that Obama created….the bailout of the banks; well many of the banks have already repaid the funds, plus the taxpayer/government received a profit. The bailout of the auto companies……they have paid back all or most of the bailout funds they received. The stock market is at its’ highest point in over a year….unemployment
shows signs of slowing, jobs are being created (granted, slowly) and many leading economists and
economic indicators show a slowing of the fall or decline.

People open your eyes. The real threat is the right wing, their pundits and their supporters, who now call for Obama’s
removal from office, some even pronouncing their wish that he should die soon…..by a disease or a bullet! I’ve heard…..yes heard….an saw on the news, more then one person willing too “off” Barack Hussein Obama since he’s not “their” president and he is treasonous person, someone to be despised!
Shame on those people. Shame. They are becoming their very own home grown domestic terrorists and much like Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, some of these followers are proud of it!

Now some are flying the stars and stripes upside down, which is a statement of distress.

When I did so at rallies protesting the war in Iraq, I would add that it was these very “folk” who denounced me, at the tops of the lungs! I was being disgraceful with the flag. Now however they call it patriotic.

Finally I need to know, where were these nut cases during the past administrations 8 years of law breaking, Constitution shredding, lying, cheating and corrupt leaders?

Those people in the prior administration who broke laws and deceived their citizens are really the ones

who need to be prosecuted too the fullest extent of the law.

As for their claim that they prevented another terrorist attack on our soil for the last 8 years…..I need to ask who prevented those responsible for the very first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 from doing so again for 8 years? It was a democratic administration in fact which did prevent it.
It was the new Bush administration who hit the ground running on January 20 th, 2001 looking for a war in the middle east…..that….stoked the anger of those terrorists to attack once again, and then only after Bush was in office for……8 month! If anyone should have known of the impending attack and very well may have known it was Bush # 43.

Pay attention friends. Pay close attention!

And please feel free to comment.

If I may, I’d like to offer my unique prospective on government run health care. I was employed for 12 years in the health care system at a skilled long term care facility. I dealt directly with Medicare and Medicaid applications for admission to and approval of coverage. In a sense I was the patients advocate as well as the nursing homes finance coordinator. But I digress.

In 1993 I was approved for Medicare and Medicaid. I’ve received what can only be described as………great care; responsive health care; one with little paperwork or billing problems on my end; with very competent doctors, hospitals and clinics. I truly believe that had I been insured by a paid insurance policy, I would have been denied some care and/or services; and I’d have to pick from a provider list. At this point I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been to hospital or clinics.

When I broke my leg…twice….I picked my surgeon. When I had my amputation, I picked my doctor; I meet with him and 5 days later…..chop….chop!….LOL Thanks to you and I, as well as our federal government……Medicare and Medicaid do indeed work! Sure they could and should be tweaked, and most certainly some segments of our society are allowed to “drop through the cracks” so to speak, but in reality they are successful, long standing programs, which from the get-go were immediately gutted by Nixon and his party. It’s amazing that they survived all these decades. It is amazing that I too survived.

The government needs to be allowed to bid on prescription drugs, medical services and equipment purchases. Those, along with covering the yearly costs of the Part D program, were cut from the final bill that Bush and the Republican party gave us. Talk about passing along the costs….to our children and their children! I believe that all people in this country should have health care, fully covered…..”it is our right”! We don’t have the money to fight the republicans and certainly, not the insurance lobby’s opposition to health care reform. Ask yourself, will I need medical coverage and will it bankrupt me? Over 62% do indeed go bankrupt because of the expense of care. Please take this message to heart. Do what’s Right. Demand action now.

Here we go again. The right wing of the republican party is starting to fire up their troops, feigning a ”supposed grassroots movement” of citizens, who are willing to drive home their opposition to any health care reform policies proposed and supported by their enemies across the isles of both houses on Capital Hill. They are amassing in large numbers, holding signs aloft and screaming to the tops of their lungs. They can be found outside as well as inside, these town hall meetings now taking place across the country during this Augusts summer recess taken by our elected representatives. And they are denouncing as liars, those “wicked people” who only want to finally see put in place, a health care bill that will offer coverage to the approximately 43,000,000 (million) people without health insurance be they young or old; poor or unemployed and those lucky to be employed…..who lack health insurance because their employers never did or no longer do, offer coverage.

Being a democracy our citizens have the right to free speech; too congregate in public and to protest their dissenting views, on what they see as detrimental to their likings or beliefs.

However these demonstrations taking place now are being funded by the very same parties who orchestrated the protests during the recount of votes in Florida, that ultimately resulted in the theft of the presidency from Al Gore, in favor of George W. Bush in 2000. Again we are finding that these squeaky clean, middle aged, mostly white males, who barraged into the Broward and Dade County’s offices of voter registration and at the state capital in Tallahassee, are one and the same. They were in 2000 and are presently being brought in by the busload to these town hall meetings. As for their protest signs, they often display racist, bigoted and downright hateful messages in language and images i.e. Nazi SS sembles and President Obama as Hitler or as a monkey! What they are doing is shameful as well as bullying! They are shouting in unison at times, thereby disrupting the speakers and their fellow citizens rights to be heard and informed on the issues. Their goal is to make sure there is no argument or further discussions. I heard someone refer to these protesters as members of what could be called the ”Dockers Rebellion”. So again we have conservative voters gathering under the umbrella of their right wing lobbyists and their corporate financiers’. A vast majority of these right wingers, be they politicians, lobbyists or just plain John Q. Public, profess to being good Christians…..what a crock of shit, please, give me a break! They wouldn’t know what love and respect is, even if it smacked them in their faces! These very folk worship at the feet of Rush Limbaugh and his neo-conservative brethren. I ask, are they also patriots?

Their leaders want our president to fail. They couldn’t care less if in failure it brought down this great country. In their twisted minds they see those who disagree with them as evil, perhaps even the devil incarnate!

So let me know what you think, post a comment.

Thank you,

Power to the People

Our Republican friends in the house and senate, need to get off the presidents back with their continuing attacks on his health-care proposals. Nothing is ever perfect…we know that all too well…..GW Bush and his republican cronies…are disconnected from the world of our poor and middle-class people and they left the security of our nation in tatters by fighting a war that was doomed from the start to fail in Iraq.

As for Afghanistan, where we should have gone with a large troop presence to begin with, so as to capture Osama Ben Laden and reduce the number of militants aligned with him, we now need to finish the job and get the hell out of there ASAP. History shows repeatedly that not one can conquer that 13th century dark age tribal country, no matter how many men and machines have been thrown at them.

The Democrats need to stand tall and support the president on this pressing issue of reform. The bill for “full coverage health-care” is getting on in years…..like 40+ years. Nothing ever seems to get accomplished. We should all be ringing the phones off their hooks at the offices of our congressional representatives, republicans as well as democrats. We need to overwhelm their email sites. And we need to do this regularly until they pass a bill guaranteeing coverage for all. We won’t find our political fortunes as hopeful as we have now…..and time is ticking away. We need to finally pass a bill on health-care reform.

But here we are still kicking the can down the road, not wanting to take a stand on providing what should be the best health-care system available to every single person in this country. I’ve found over the years that if you ask a veteran receiving care at VA medical centers and clinics, how they would rate the care they receive, hands down it’s mostly positive. Now you might say, so why do we have so many men and women suffering from post traumatic stress disorders who go un-diagnosed, you need to ask who has failed them. It was the VA who alerted the public and the press. Why? Because the government that should serve them, doesn’t provide enough funding! And the DOD doesn’t demand that all returning combat service members under go psychological testing and debriefings on their return! But when all is said and done, the skills and services provided by the VA is top notch. Did you hear Bill Krystal admit on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, that the feds run the best health-care program… ie: the VA. So what is so bad about a government run system? The VA is strong.

Then there’s our Medicare program. Again a well run government health-care system. Imagine the republicans starting with Nixon, almost immediately, began to gut the Medicare program, passed a few years earlier and signed by President Johnson. Thankfully they didn’t destroy it, though they wanted too. No senior citizen in their right mind would want to have Medicare taken away. Just ask them. Then we have a federal employee’s health-care program, which covers federal employees along with our officials elected or appointed. Medicare works; and our government can get a piece of mail from coast to coast in two days, so why can’t our politicians grasp this simple fact…..government involvement is a must. It seems like every time we/our government takes their eyes off of corporations they start to skirt the law as best they can and they continue to do so that is until they get caught.

So we need healthcare reform that covers all our people. With no more pre-existing clauses. No denial of continued care coverage because it is costing the insurance company too much! They are making millions, using the system. Why is it that we allow ourselves to be used again and again by the insurance business. They love to collect their monthly policy premiums year after year, all for profit, no loss allowed, but when a person needs to submit a claim, the insurer looks at any and all possible ways that would allow them to deny a new claim or refuse to pay for further medical costs. We need regulation, not more deregulation! A single payer option is something which needs to part of the overall package for health-care reform.

I believe reform is an important piece of the puzzle needed to rescue our still struggling economy. Taking the “monkey of health-care ” off the backs of employers and employees would certainly help to accelerate our recovery.

It is a fact that the costs for medical services, be they something as simple as an endoscopy procedure, or care for the treatment of cancer, in short order, will bankrupt most people. The black hole of health-care charges swallows some people whole. Many will remain mired in debt and without a helping hand from our government, they will take that debt to their graves. So sad. So American!

When candidate Obama was looking to be elected, he stated that he was a furious backer who supported the immediate repeal of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) policy. Now granted he is just in office 6 months or 180 days and he Obama, has so very many issues on his platter, which were not even on his radar screen during the campaign and which blew up in all our faces last October. I would also like to make the point that most citizens didn’t see the problems through the trees either.

As a gay man I must admit that the near collapse of our financial institutions and the economic turmoil it brought; foreclosures, bankrupt banks and auto manufactures and of course the massive lose of jobs with it’s mindboggling monthly unemployment figures, are all significantly more pressing then is DADT or same-sex marriage legislation.

Taking that into account, this president who can multi-task with the best of us must keep DADT on the front burner, and he, President Obama needs to “shit or get off the pot! “

From Sept 11th, 2001 through 2008 some 12,000 members of our armed forces were discharged because of their sexual persuasion. More then 300 0f those men and women were top of their grade fluent in Arabic as well as other languages and others were jet fighter pilots. Even more unnerving is the 4000 or more personnel who don’t reenlist…..each year……that’s approximately 30,000 over 8 years.

I therefore submit that we lose millions of dollars which we invested to train these soldiers. With all those discharged because of DADT, and those that don’t re-up their service, I pose that we are endangering the safety and security of our nation! They are our Homeland Security! That we conduct what amounts to witch hunts in many discharges is just shameful. Most polls continue to reflect that the general public supports repealing DADT at about 70% and enlisted members concur polling around 55%. When under the pressure of battle I’d be willing to bet most soldiers won’t or don’t give a dam what the sexual persuasion of the guy in the foxhole is.

“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” discharges since Obama and the 111th Congress were sworn in now number 309.

I have great love and respect for our country, but I know we can do better than “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Please write you congressional representatives. Use your phone or email them. Remember statisticians point out that just one single contact made via phone, email or snail mail in theory equates to 1500 contacts.

Also please checkout the Servicemembers.org website. Help keep DADT on the front burner of our policy makers stoves. DADT shouldn’t be the gift that keeps on giving and giving to which there are no takers!

My Eyewitness Account of the Apollo XI launch July 16th, 1969:

Do you recall Northeast Airlines……Yellowbird specials…..compelling all to ”come on down to sunny Florida”?

“I was 15 back then and I had saved my money made working at a deli for .50 cents per hour! I lived in New Jersey. I flew for my first time on a Yellowbird (DC-727) flight with a friend, down to Daytona Beach then by bus to Titusville the the afternoon before the launch. We plopped ourselves down at the end of a jetty. As night fell the brilliantly lit Saturn V was mesmerizing from 8 miles away across the intercostals waterway. Till this day I get goose bumps reliving the moments of the launch at 9:32 am. I recorded the sounds on my portable cassette tape recorder. The crowd was to large to comprehend.

And silent.

Then the rocket lit brightly and climbed ever so slowly, bellowing clouds of steam and exhaust. Higher and still higher. Nothing more. Till precisely 56 seconds later……when a hard wind wiped across the water, heated and smelling of the spent rockets fuel! And with it the sound, a growing rumble that drowned out the then cheering masses. Till this day I’ve never felt nor heard, such an incredibly loud rush and roar of sound!”

Hello All,

By now I’m sure you’re heard just about enough of the moon landing. But just a little more of your time please. Hey it could be worse. We could still be hearing about Michael Jackson!

Below I’ve posted some comments on the moon landing and whether any of it was worth it from numerous sources?

I’m sure most people aren’t aware of the hundreds of technological innovations derived from our pursuit of the Moon.

Bottom line though, it was only a military objective, a product of the “cold war” with the Soviet Union.

That said, I think Wernher von Braun got it right……we must not fail.

Incredible,

Chris

“Here on Earth we live on a planet that is in orbit around the Sun. The Sun itself is a star that is on fire and will someday burn up, leaving our solar system uninhabitable. Therefore we must build a bridge to the stars, because as far as we know, we are the only sentient creatures in the entire universe. When do we start building that bridge to the stars? We begin as soon as we are able, and this is that time. We must not fail in this obligation we have to keep alive the only meaningful life we know of.”

“Stargazer, now star-reacher, man inhabits a smallish planet of an ordinary sun in a garden-variety galaxy that occupies the tiniest corner of a universe whose scope is beyond comprehension.”

With the economy in the tank and job opportunities still next to nothing, I’ve posted this so that the next time one hears or thinks, “I wish I could just sit around and collect Welfare benefits!”, one needs to take pause before verbalizing it. The majority of people on our nations Welfare rolls only remain on them for an average of 6 months. Granted that length of time is bound to rise.

So instead of berating the underclass/middleclass people who qualify for these benefits, try to imagine yourself living on the monthly benefits as I’ve highlighted below.

I don’t mean to come off sounding all preachy. OK I did, I’m guilty. But I just wanted to make the point, so that we could speak from a position of knowledge when confronted with others who do think that life on the public dole is a cakewalk, wrong or just unfair. I also felt that the attached article would be overlooked in your reading of the news. Not everyone reads the NY Times or the 2nd section of it. Additionally we need to look closer at the inequities of our moneyed society, and the possibility of a redistribution of wealth.

Nineteen years later, they will see a long-awaited increase beginning this month, bringing a subsidy for a typical family of three to $321 a month, from $291, city and state officials said.

For a family of four, the subsidy will rise to $413.70 a month, from $375.70.

The increase was a small line in Gov. David A. Paterson‘s budget this year, but a hard-fought victory by advocates for the poor, who have long argued that the welfare subsidy was too low.

“It was way overdue,” said Mark Dunlea, the executive director of the Hunger Action Network of New York State, which lobbied for the increase. “Nineteen years is a very long time.” According to the terms of the budget, the subsidy will also increase incrementally in 2010 and 2011. On Thursday, the change was so new that many recipients had yet to realize that their checks were about to become a little bit bigger.

“What? No!” said Georgeanna Hicks, 54, as she was told of the news on her way out of the Pathmark supermarket in East Harlem. “It hasn’t gone up in years. That is great.” Ms. Hicks, who has diabetes, said she would like to find a job as a secretary, or perhaps go back to school and be trained as a dental assistant.

The extra money, Ms. Hicks said, would help her afford subway fare, which recently went up. “I can go look for a job more often now,” she said. “I’ll do my laundry more often. I’ll spend it on things like toilet paper, lotion, dishwashing soap. I can’t really buy much of anything, but it’ll help me.”

Like many other low-income people, Ms. Hicks said she scraped by on a combination of food stamps, welfare, Medicaid and a small housing subsidy. She also depends on her daughter, who pays for things like her cellphone bill. But she said her daughter recently lost her job, and is struggling to keep up with her own expenses.

Hello people,

After a weekend of celebratory activities honoring our great country, it still is a country which needs to resolve to evolve…….and change as called for by its society. We can’t tolerate a static country!

That said, we need to furiously and ferociously prod via the power at our finger tips, our elected officials both state and federal.

If you’d search The White House website you’d find the Obama administration has made posing questions, comments and criticisms readily available on the home page. I’ve heard numerous staff members and Barack himself, say that they do read all their email. I emailed my criticisms regarding his seeming lack of action on DADT and the Marriage issue. Some days later I received a reply which actually seemed written by a human being. A form letter surely, but one used as the framework for a response. So where am I going with this?

I simply think that we are at that preverbal precipice……we desperately need a government which will spend more…..not less. And to go further, no more tax cuts! Education, energy, climate control, the financial system, our wage scales and resource management, all need regulation not deregulation! Swift action is called for worldwide, but it needs to start right here! We might be looking at a downturn which will be the new normal. Some economist’s are talking about double digit unemployment rates perhaps lasting a decade or more. In the past we’ve suffered long turndowns, in the 1930′s and 1972 through 1985 to name just two periods.

This is not then, not yesterday! We have to start to address these issues immediately, sooner not later. We have possibly no more then ten years to start to turn things around. I don’t think any of us will want to be around for the fear and disruptions, inaction across the globe will rot. Take the bull by the horns, true it around, give it a kick in the ass and deal with it. Petition for policy change now. Please.

Chris

PS: G.W.’s site made you dig to find the email link and then you were limited to 250 characters…..not much more then a Twitter post, 140.
